[He doesn't really like to run, but it's a thing he can do to stay active and kill a lot of time here. Since he blew off Makoto's request to connect him with a doctor, he's on his own for his shoulder. That in turn means nothing's really happening on that front and he's left to his own devices for working out. So, Sousuke runs.
Maybe it's because he doesn't want to acknowledge that he's stuck running that Sousuke hasn't bothered getting anything other than decent shoes and workout gear. No fancy water bottle, no mp3 player, no earbuds.
It's ironic, then, that when he hears a familiar voice behind him, he just wants to keep running. It's been pretty effective so far, just avoiding dealing with this. He'd like to run right off the treadmill and literally anywhere else but this time, Tachibana's not in his phone or on the network. He's standing behind him.
